WAkunga means "MIDWIVES" in Swahili.
Wakunga is about helping Midwives, in undeveloped countries, provide safe, accessible maternity care to those that need it.
It is a registered Non-Profit Canadian Organization whose ultimate mission is to increase women's access to trained birth attendants.
Provides Obstetrical Training to Midwives and Traditional Birth Attendants
Fundraises for water harvesting projects and obstetrical equipment.
Midwives in developing countries often provide full reproductive health care to women throughout their childbearing years. Most of the work they do focuses on pregnancy, birth and postpartum care. This work goes largely unpaid as women in the community have no means to pay for the services. And because the work is unpaid, the value of the work is often questioned by the midwives family, community and the larger health care system.
Your financial assistance can change this for the better.
